Eastern

Built in 1930, the Eastern Building in the theater district is my favorite example of art deco architecture in Los Angeles. The building now houses condominiums. It would be cool to live there but at around a million dollars for a loft it is slightly out of my price range. The surrounding theater district has a gritty urban feel to it that gives the area a life of its own. Whereas I might feel compelled to throw on a suit or shirt and tie before a night out in Broadway NYC, I feel perfectly at home in ripped jeans and an unwashed T-shirt in LA’s gem of a theater district.

The Arts District in Downtown LA is a street art fanciers paradise.

Sportcoat in Fall

There is a casual elegance to the sport coat, although it’s not always easy finding the right fit. Too tight and you’re Pee Wee Herman. Too loose and you’re straight out of a late 90s Friends episode. I think the fit on this coat by Topshop hits pretty close to the target.

Hawaiian Moderne

I spent most of my Summer vacations as a kid visiting my grandparents in Hawaii. It’s kind of funny, I don’t think any true Hawaiians would be caught dead wearing a “Hawaiian” shirt. Nevertheless, the look really blew up this Summer. I own a few shirts in different colors but this white one by Topman is my favorite.
